Certified Asthma Friendly Information

Toys with the asthma friendly® certification are an ideal choice for those concerned with allergies and asthma. Asthma friendly® certified toys do not contain any fabric or fillings known to aggravate asthma.

Additionally, its quality and workmanship allow for the effective allergen reduction procedure to freeze, wash and dry while maintaining all EN71 and ASTMF963 safety requirements.

Choosing asthma friendly® toys is only one of an overall allergen reduction plan in the home. Always follow your physicians advise on asthma allergy management. If under normal conditions of use, the specific care guidelines (see below) are followed, these toys will not accumulate high levels of household allergens.

1. Freeze. Place toy inside a freezer bag, then place in freezer for 24 hours.
2. Wash/Dry. Machine wash warm, delicate cycle/tumble dry high.
    Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Recommend use of fabric bag for
    wash/dry cycle and allow toy to cool before giving toy to child.
3. Cuddle with confidence.
4. Repeat this process every certain number of weeks, as specifically directed for
    each toy.

When you see the asthma & allergy friendly^TM  Certification Mark, you know that the product has been scientifically tested and proven to be more suitable for people with asthma and related allergy sensitivities.

The asthma & allergy friendly^TM Certification Program was developed and launched in the U.S. by Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) in partnership with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA).

The Certification Standards are applied to products to ensure that they fulfill suitability criteria for individuals with asthma and allergy sensitivities.

Allergy Standards Limited is an independant company specializing in product certification.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America is a non profit organization and the leading patient advocacy group in the U.S.

The Asthma Society of Canada has partnered with Allergy Standards Limited to launch the asthma friendly Certification Program - the first program of its kind in Canada. 

The asthma friendly Certification Program will assist Canadians in choosing products at retail that are suitable for those affected by by asthma and associated allergies.
